The Virginia Tech Massacre

I was watching this in absolute horror yesterday as the story unfolded.

I also just read Cho Seung's plays.
They are so disturbing and really unimaginable plots. There's no one I can really blame for this. Could this episode have been averted?
The campus being so big, even some students thought that it was an impossible task to get everyone informed. And it seems that Cho's peers and faculty were aware of his situation.
I can only pray that something on this scale never happens again.

Escapism is one of my worst habits. Must get back to studies. Pouring more thoughts on this won't do me any good.

Nonsensical Rambling

It's been a while since my last post. Once again I have an urge to change my layout. However, preset ones won't do this time. I'll invest a little time and code one on my own.

1. How bizarre is this . An iPod??? Dodging a bullet???? Seriously, maybe you can embed pepper spray in an iPod and then it will be a complete defense unit for little 'ol civilians. And you can do it while listening to your favourite music. :) Even so, it's so funny and ridiculous. The guy has to give credit to a piece of plastic and circuitry. I hope his warranty is still valid though...
And this would be the perfect pun.

Maybe the next armour or bullet-proof jacket will come with an iPod. I still find this VERY amusing.
2. Nokia N95 is here!!!!! I say that my loyalties lie with Sony Ericsson because the mobiles phones have more features and the prices are reasonable but the heck with loyalties. This new cell phone on the block is LOADED. The best parts:
5 megapixel camera. Gosh, that's more than my current digital camera.
Maps of about 100 different countries with GPS. Not of much use unless I'm rich and a frequent traveller.
Dedicated music controls
The design is brilliant. Two-way sliding. What didn't anyone think of that before?

But after reading the 12 page review from Mobile Burn I realize... some of Murphy's Laws are into effect. *sigh* It's not perfect. The battery life is depleting at a rate faster than cell regeneration on Claire Bennet and it barely lasts for a day on moderate usage. I just get the feel that it looks a bit like the T-Mobile Sidekick series.

3. And speaking of inventions, I had the weirdest dream last night where I invented a hovering mirror, for people who are obsessed with their looks and need to indulge in a bit of admiration-in-front-of-the-mirror every now and then. It hovers... how exactly? I haven't figured that out yet. But as I vaguely remember, it involves inserting a capsule in your forehead and wireless binding technology which I don't think has been invented yet; also breaking through Newton's equations. Anyway, it hovers in front of you while you walk or sit. It also has motion sensors which magically turn the mirror transparent so that you don't bump into anyone. Ingenious, right?

Yes, I'm very rambly today. Life is going fine. Not good or great or exciting, just fine. Now before I go into a self pity mode and turn this into a long emo post I will end it.
I have a Applied Mechanics exam tomorrow in which I might gracefully flunk. I need to go study now.
